A World Happiness Foundation session at the Second World Summit for Social Development (Doha, 4–6 November 2025)

From 4–6 November 2025, governments, multilateral agencies, civil society, and practitioners will gather in Doha, Qatar for the Second World Summit for Social Development—a landmark moment to renew the Copenhagen commitments and accelerate people‑centered development for the decade ahead.

Amid this global focus on dignity, equity, and inclusion, the World Happiness Foundation (WHF) invites you to a joyful, hands‑on Virtual Solutions Session:

  • Title: Happytalism in Action: Cultivating an Abundance Mindset for Poverty Eradication
  • Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2025
  • Time: 4:45 PM Doha (UTC+3) / 8:45 AM Miami (EST, UTC−5*)
  • Format: Interactive virtual session featuring WHF’s tools, case stories, and community practices

*Note on time zones: U.S. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Miami will be on Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) on November 4; 4:45 PM in Doha (UTC+3) corresponds to 8:45 AM in Miami.

Why this session—and why now

Thirty years after Copenhagen, the world is still grappling with poverty, precarious work, and widening inequalities. The Summit’s purpose is to close implementation gaps and re‑center human well‑being in development agendas. Our session contributes a complementary lens: Happytalism—a paradigm that measures progress not only by economic output but by freedom, consciousness, happiness, and planetary well‑being.

Happytalism asks a catalytic question: What if we organized economies and institutions around the conditions that allow people and nature to flourish—and then judged success by the expansion of those conditions? In practice, this means shifting from a scarcity mindset (“managing deficits”) to an abundance mindset (“building capabilities and flourishing”), and from narrow GDP metrics to well‑being outcomes people can feel in their daily lives.

What you’ll experience

  1. Abundance as a design principle We’ll translate an abundance mindset into concrete policy and community design choices: how to frame goals, allocate resources, and evaluate progress so well‑being, dignity, and agency are the core deliverables—not afterthoughts. World Happiness Foundation
  2. Happytalist Goals—affirmative visions that mobilize Instead of fighting “against poverty” in the abstract, Happytalism sets affirmative, generative targets (Happytalist Goals) that parallel the SDGs but emphasize prosperity, nourishment, joy, and harmony—the conditions we seek to grow. World Happiness Foundation
  3. From independence to interdependence We’ll explore the shift from “I’m free from you” to “We are free with and for each other”—and why interdependence is essential for durable anti‑poverty strategies, community resilience, and peace. World Happiness Foundation
  4. Roles for “Rousers” Drawing on WHF’s work, we’ll highlight the role of Rousers—conscious catalysts who help translate values into action across governments, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods. World Happiness Foundation
  5. Regenerative happiness, not extractive growth We’ll introduce regenerative happiness practices that restore social and ecological systems while improving life satisfaction, so gains are not bought at the expense of people or planet. World Happiness Foundation

What you’ll take away

  • A practical playbook to reframe programs from “deficit management” to capability‑building and flourishing.
  • Narrative tools (language and measures) to rally partners around abundance‑oriented goals.
  • Case‑inspired practices to seed community trust, belonging, and shared prosperity.
  • A network—WHF’s global community of practitioners and learners working to spread happiness and well‑being worldwide. World Happiness Foundation
