WORLD HAPPINESS FEST 2026. Freedom and Rebirth. A Festival of Transformation

A Festival of Transformation
The World Happiness Fest 2026 has come and gone, and what remains is not just memory but a living pulse of transformation. For four extraordinary days—from March 19 to 22—the Auditorio JoaquĂn Rodrigo and the Dehesa de NavalcarbĂłn in Las Rozas de Madrid became the beating heart of a global movement: the largest, most diverse, and polycentric forum of happiness and well-being on the planet.
This year’s theme, Freedom and Rebirth, was not chosen lightly. In a world still navigating the aftershocks of collective trauma, political upheaval, and a deepening crisis of meaning, Freedom and Rebirth called each of us to look inward—to shed the identities that no longer serve us, to integrate the shadows we have buried, and to rise into a more conscious, compassionate, and courageous version of ourselves. And rise we did.
Timed to coincide with the United Nations International Day of Happiness on March 20, the Fest brought together world-class scientists, educators, artists, entrepreneurs, coaches, city leaders, and citizens from over 80 countries, all united by a single conviction: that happiness is not a luxury but a strategic imperative for a thriving civilization.
Las Rozas: A City of Happiness
The choice of Las Rozas as the host city was both symbolic and strategic. Under the visionary leadership of Mayor José de la Uz, Las Rozas has become one of Spain’s most innovative municipalities—a smart city recognized internationally for its commitment to sustainability, digital transformation, citizen well-being, and quality of life. It was therefore fitting that during this edition of the Fest, Las Rozas received the prestigious City of Happiness Award from the World Happiness Foundation, recognizing its exemplary public policies centered on human flourishing.
The Mayor came to represent Las Rozas at the inaugural ceremony, accompanied by Gloria Fernández, Councillor for Education and Culture, whose collaboration made it possible for the entire event to be offered free of charge—democratizing access to knowledge that is typically reserved for high-level executive forums. Alongside the Foundation’s CEO, Raúl Varela, and myself as President, we opened the doors to what would become an unforgettable celebration of human potential.
The Cities of Happiness initiative is one of the Foundation’s flagship programs, working with municipal governments worldwide to embed well-being into urban planning, public policy, and civic life. Las Rozas now joins a growing family of cities—including Pinecrest in Miami, cities across Latin America, and more—that have committed to placing happiness at the center of governance. This is not feel-good rhetoric; it is a paradigm shift toward what we call Happytalism: a civilization-level operating system where development serves freedom, consciousness, and happiness for all.
Four Days, Four Dimensions of Transformation
Each day of the Fest was designed around a distinct thematic pillar, creating a holistic arc of engagement—from organizational leadership to personal consciousness, from education to community embodiment.
Day 1 — Organizations & Leadership (Thursday, March 19)
The festival opened with a focus on well-being in the workplace, conscious leadership, and the role of organizations as engines of human flourishing. Keynote sessions explored the Enterprises of Happiness framework, where companies adopt well-being not as an HR initiative but as a core strategic pillar. The inaugural ceremony featured the Mayor of Las Rozas, who spoke about the city’s commitment to innovation and citizen-centered governance. The Foundation’s Well-Being in Organizations Awards (Premios FMF al Bienestar en las Organizaciones 2026) recognized pioneering companies advancing happiness at work.
Day 2 — Health, Consciousness & Personal Development (Friday, March 20)
Coinciding with the UN International Day of Happiness, Friday’s program dove deep into mental health, the science of consciousness, neuroscience, and personal transformation. Sessions integrated psychology, spirituality, and somatic practices in a rigorous, applied framework. It was on this day that I had the privilege of presenting the Integrative Transformation Model (ITM)—a comprehensive framework I have developed that bridges Carl Jung’s individuation process with the Shadow–Gift–Essence (S-G-E) methodology and contemporary research on consciousness evolution and human flourishing.
Day 3 — Education & Art (Saturday, March 21)
Saturday placed the spotlight on education, culture, and the transformative power of art. The Schools of Happiness program was showcased, demonstrating how the Foundation works with schools worldwide to integrate emotional education, mindfulness, and well-being into curricula. Projects operating in schools and hospitals were presented, illustrating how art can be used as a tool for healing and social transformation. Workshops, happy talks, and creative sessions filled the Sala Felicidad and Sala Libertad—spaces designed to hold both inspiration and intimate dialogue.
Day 4 — Community & Mindfulness (Sunday, March 22)
The final day opened the festival to the broader community of Las Rozas with open-air sessions of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and sports activities for children and families in the Dehesa de Navalcarbón. It was a day of embodiment—a reminder that well-being is not something we merely think about, but something we live, breathe, and practice together. The evening culminated in a celebratory gala where Las Rozas officially received the City of Happiness Award, followed by an evening of networking, music, and shared reflection.
The ITM Model: Integrating Shadows for a Reborn Self
One of the intellectual highlights of this edition was the presentation of the Integrative Transformation Model (ITM), a framework I have been developing through my work at the World Happiness Foundation and as Professor of Practice at Shoolini University’s Yogananda School of Spirituality and Happiness.
The ITM stands on three interconnected pillars. First, Jungian Individuation: the lifelong process of becoming who we truly are by integrating the shadow—the disowned aspects of our psyche—to access the Self, our deepest center of wisdom and wholeness. Second, the Shadow–Gift–Essence (S-G-E) Framework: a practical, emotion-centered methodology where we move from the contracted expression of an emotion (Shadow) through its conscious function (Gift) to the core quality it points to when fully integrated (Essence). Third, Contemporary Consciousness Research: drawing on over 90 peer-reviewed studies across analytical psychology, integral theory, and positive psychology to ground the model in evidence.
In the context of our theme, Freedom and Rebirth, the ITM offers a concrete pathway: freedom comes not from avoiding our shadows but from integrating them. Rebirth happens when we discover that our deepest wounds carry the seeds of our greatest gifts. For leaders, coaches, educators, and anyone committed to conscious evolution, the ITM provides both the map and the compass.
The Meta Pets Method: A Great Success
If the ITM provided the intellectual architecture, the Meta Pets Method brought it alive with color, play, and wonder. And what a success it was.
The Meta Pets are 64 cosmic animal archetypes—each a fantastical creature composed of three symbolic animals—that I developed as a creative, card-based system for self-inquiry, healing, and awakening. Each Meta Pet card carries three transformative layers: the Shadow (a disowned part of ourselves), the Gift (the adaptive intelligence hidden within), and the Essence (the core quality that emerges when we integrate fully). Born from the union of Jungian depth psychology, the Gene Keys, hypnotherapy, and neuroscience, the Meta Pets bypass the intellectual defenses of the ego and engage imagination, the body, and deeper knowing.
During the Fest, the Meta Pets cards became a true phenomenon. Festival-goers drew cards, engaged in interactive dynamics, explored their inner light and shadows, and connected with others through a shared language of archetypes. Coaches and therapists discovered a powerful new tool for their practice. Children and adults alike were drawn to the playful, colorful creatures—proof that healing need not be solemn; it can be joyful, creative, and deeply communal. The Meta Pets became the living mascot of the Fest, with Felicia—the first Meta Pet and the symbol of connection, transformation, and wisdom—presiding over the gathering as always.
Toward 10 Billion Happy: The Foundation’s Living Agenda
The World Happiness Fest is not an isolated event. It is the annual global showcase of a year-round ecosystem that operates across schools, enterprises, cities, hospitals, and communities in over 80 countries. Everything we do is oriented toward our audacious and non-negotiable mission: 10 billion free, conscious, and happy people by 2050.
This mission is not a slogan. It is an operational framework. Through our Schools of Happiness, we bring emotional education, mindfulness, and well-being curricula to classrooms worldwide. Through our Enterprises of Happiness, we work with organizations to build cultures where employees thrive, not merely survive, training Chief Well-Being Officers to lead from the inside out. Through our Cities of Happiness, we partner with municipal governments to embed well-being into urban policy and governance—as Las Rozas has so powerfully demonstrated. Through the World Happiness Academy, we offer certifications, coaching programs, the Gross Global Happiness executive program at the UN University for Peace, and discovery expeditions to places like Bhutan and India.
The International Day of Happiness, established by the United Nations in 2012, serves as both an anchor and a catalyst for the Fest each year. It reminds us that the pursuit of happiness is not a private indulgence but a universal right—a cornerstone of human development recognized at the highest levels of international governance.
At the center of all of this is a commitment to co-creation with conscious catalysts of well-being—the coaches, educators, healers, social entrepreneurs, artists, and community leaders who carry this work into their homes, their cities, and their nations. The World Happiness Fest is their gathering. The Agora network—our global chapters across every continent—ensures that the energy ignited during the Fest continues to ripple outward throughout the year.
A Heartfelt Congratulations to the Spanish Team
I want to close by expressing my deepest gratitude and admiration to the Spanish team that made this edition possible. Under the tireless leadership of Raúl Varela, CEO of the Fundación Mundial de la Felicidad (España), and with the invaluable support of Gloria Fernández and the Ayuntamiento de Las Rozas, our team delivered an event of extraordinary quality, warmth, and impact.
Organizing a four-day international festival with conferences, workshops, happy talks, gala dinners, community activities, and a live broadcast for global audiences is no small feat. The Spanish team rose to the challenge with grace, professionalism, and an unmistakable spirit of joy. Every detail—from the two workshop halls (Sala Felicidad and Sala Libertad) to the radio broadcast led by the talented Juanma Ortega, to the seamless coordination of hundreds of speakers and participants—reflected a deep commitment to our shared mission.
Congratulations, team. You have shown the world what is possible when purpose meets passion, and when a city opens its arms to a movement that believes in the fundamental goodness and potential of every human being.
The World Happiness Fest 2026 in Las Rozas was a Fest of Freedom and Rebirth—a gathering where shadows were welcomed, gifts were discovered, and essences were remembered. It was a declaration that well-being is not a privilege but a birthright, and that the architecture of a happier world is being built—one school, one enterprise, one city, one conscious catalyst at a time.
The journey toward 10 billion happy continues. And it continues together.
